Detailed Directions To The Alex Haley House Museum

Driving From Within Tennessee From Memphis: Take Highway 51 North to Henning. At the end of the 1st block, you’ll find the Museum at: 200 South Church Street Henning, TN 38041. From Nashville: Take I-40 West to Exit 66. Take Highway 70 West to Brownsville. Follow Highway 19 West to Ripely. Then take Highway 51 South to Henning. At the end of the 1st block, you’ll find the Museum at: 200 South Church Street Henning, TN 38041. From Jackson: Take I-40 West to Exit 66. Take Highway 70 West to Brownsville. Follow Highway 19 West to Ripely. Then take Highway 51 South to Henning. At the end of the 1st block, you’ll find the Museum at: 200 South Church Street Henning, TN 38041. Driving From Western Kentucky From Western Kentucky: Take Purchase Parkway South to Fulton. At Fulton, Highway 51 South to Henning. At the end of the 1st block, you’ll find the Museum at: 200 South Church Street Henning, TN 38041. Driving From Southeast Missouri From Southeast Missouri: From I-55, take exit 17 onto I-155 East to Dyersburg. From Dyersburg, follow Highway 51 South to Henning. At the end of the 1st block, you’ll find the Museum at: 200 South Church Street Henning, TN 38041.
Directions From The Museum To Bethlehem Cemetery The Bethlehem Cemetery is situated very close to the Alex Haley House Museum. Chicken George, Will and Cynthia Palmer, Bertha Palmer Haley, Tom and Irene (Arena) Murray, and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Murray are all buried there.
From The Museum: Exit the Museum on Haley Avenue. Take Haley Avenue to Main Street and Make a Left. Go to the 2nd traffic light (Citgo gas station on left) and Make a Right onto Bethlehem Cemetery Road. Go through the tunnel (RR tracks overhead) to Tate Road and Make a Left. Then take Tate Road into Bethlehem Cemetery. Proceed through the entrance, front gate is usually not locked, and keep straight on the paved area to the gate/fence at the back of the cemetery. Walk past the fence and turn right. The Murray/Palmer plot is straight ahead.
