Alex Haley Tribute Site Press Release: Nashville, Tennessee, Sunday, January 20, 2013 2013 Black History Month Objectives: Our main focus has been on our Articles Page where it has been redesigned in full graphics format and now contains all the magazine covers for each written article by Alex Haley. We will continue to add many more articles to this page. Our Video Interviews page will be updated to a new modern format and many new videos will be added including videos of George Haley speaking about his brother Alex Haley and Roots. All of the 35th Anniversary of Roots videos featuring many former cast members that were filmed by Oprah Winfrey will be incorporated into our top menu bar. As we have outgrown our current menu bar layout, a new menu bar layout will be designed for easy access to all our site pages. Our main Black History Month Objective will be to extensively update The Alex Haley Museum page to provide detailed information about their Interpretive Center as well as their FaceBook and new Museum Website pages. We will also be featuring their ever so friendly, and extremely knowledgeable, current Program Directors. In addition, you will be able to access any one of their eleven newsletters and also their main Museum Brochure as well. Our intention here is to assist you in visiting the Alex Haley Museum as all roads lead to Henning. Although practically already perfect, The Alex Haley Farm (Purchased by The Children’s Defense Fund in 1994) page will be further updated to include numerous high quality photos of Alex Haley when he was present on his farm. In addition, descriptions to many of the existing structures, such as The Duck House and The Haley Farm Lodge will be given in Alex’s own words quoted from within articles we came across.

Alex Haley was general editor of the 28 books in the Stories of America series. The education of children was a cause to which he was firmly and enthusiastically committed. This series represents part of Alex Haley’s legacy to the children of America, where he stated, “So read Stories of America and listen to the music of your history and witness the sights, sounds, smells, and life of your past.”
